I often think about how blessed I am to have people in my life that care for me as much as they do. I believe that God has placed such people for a purpose. From my own family to the people I work with, to the people you see here—the Guerrys.
When I think about God at work in my own life, time and time again, this family comes to mind. Their love and care for those around them is an excellent example of what serving and sacrificial love are supposed to be. I continually witness Jimmy and Amelia going out of their way to create opportunities for each other to serve.
There has not been a time where I have been with Jimmy, and he has not offered to take care of Jude so that Amelia can have a little bit of free time. The same thing is true for Amelia. It is almost as if they are competing to serve each other. Truly remarkable!
My friendship with Jimmy originally began as a mentorship. I fondly remember driving to Starbucks after a long day of Calculus and sharing with Jimmy how brutal 90 minutes of lecture and 75 minutes of a Calculus lab were. Jimmy, a math teacher, began to foam at the mouth because I was living his dream. But, all jokes aside, Jimmy is much more than a mentor. I consider myself fortunate to call him a great friend. He is someone that challenges and encourages me. He is someone that sets an example for what a loving friend, father, and husband should be. If you do not know Jimmy, get to know him. He is remarkable.
I was quickly introduced to Amelia after meeting Jimmy. From the first time I met her, I could tell that she was a wonderful human being. She cares for others with extreme intentionality, she is nurturing, and she is an excellent baker. As I type, I am reminded of a time when I was at Jimmy and Amelia's home playing board games, and Amelia was baking cookies by the hundreds. I believe that night, I devoured 23 cookies baked by Amelia. All of which was supremely delicious. Amelia is not just a baker, though. She will be one of your strongest advocates, supporters, and friends.
I would not be doing the Guerry family justice without mentioning Jude. Jude is a constant encouragement in my life. He lights up whatever room he walks in, always excited. He is cute, hilarious, stylish, and whatever other compliments you can give a three-year-old.
Every time I see Jude, he stops and screams, "BEAU!!" and begins sprinting toward me. And every time that happens, my day is made, and I am reminded how beautiful life is and how thankful I am to be friends with the Guerrys.
Oh, and see you soon, Ezra.
Love,
Beau
